In 1971 an amazing group of Creative musicians led by Oliver Lake departed St. Louis and migrated to Paris, France to become one of the pivotal New Music Ensembles of the 20th Century. Members, Baikida Carroll - trumpet, Floyd Leflore - trumpet, Charles "Bobo" Shaw - drums, and Joseph Bowie - trombone & percussion. Oliver Lake continued as a pioneer with the World Saxophone Quartet and Oliver Lake Big Band, Joseph Bowie created the ledgendary "Defunkt" legacy. In 2011, this amazing and controversial group re-unites to tour the world!

This formation based in Zagreb, Croatia is Funkmagnificent! Joe Bowie joins super quitarist Jex Zoran Yaeger and a powerhouse line-up with Sin Bonovic on drums, Alen Svetopetric on Bass, Gojko Tomljanovic on Keyboards, Miha Hawlina on Tenor Sax and featuring amazing rapper/break dancer and beat-box specialists Andy Ninvalle. The band has performed in Mali Loshing and Zadar in Croatia and the wonderful Jazz Festival in Nis, Serbia. This band re-energizes old Defunkt songs and has created new, dynamic songs to fit this new, and surprisingly funky outfit.
